While the news was largely good for the Houston Texans today following their convincing 17-6 win over the Washington Redskins, a knee injury to Jadeveon Clowney loomed over the otherwise-encouraging victory. The early news on Clowney isn’t great:

This would be a tough blow to a defensive line that looks like it could be among the NFL’s best. J.J. Watt was his usual dominant self earlier today, and as a team the Texans held Washington to six points while forcing two turnovers and sacking Robert Griffin III three times, so it’s not as if they can’t play without the No. 1 pick.
Still, though, if they want to rally back from their abysmal 2-14 campaign in 2013 and become playoff contenders again, they will need Clowney.
