It was a bad night for the Carolina Panthers as they lost 37-19 to the Pittsburgh Steelers. How bad? They took what should have been a simple punt return, fumbled twice, and turned it into a Steelers touchdown:

The Steelers used a relentless ground attack to run roughshod all over the Carolina defense, with both Le’veon Bell and LeGarrette Blount crossing the 100 yard mark on the night. Ben Roethlisberger was sharp as well, going 22 of 30 for 196 yards and two touchdowns before he yielded to backup Bruce Gradkowski late in the fourth quarter. All told, the Steelers piled up 460 yards of total offense and also benefitted from two Panthers turnovers.

For Carolina, Cam Newton posted solid numbers in a losing effort, going 24 of 35 for 250 yards and a touchdown. The Panthers were useless on the ground though, eking out just 42 yards on 10 total carries. Rookie wide receiver Kellen Benjamin was a bright spot, hauling in eight passes for 115 yards and a touchdown.

The Steelers will get the struggling Buccaneers in Pittsburgh next week, and the Panthers will travel to Baltimore to play the Ravens.
