Last night, the St. Louis Cardinals defeated the Los Angeles Dodgers 3-1, to take a 2-1 lead in their best-of-five series. But that seems a lot less important after what occurred following the final out.

The bigger story is what took place outside of Busch Stadium, after the game. The so-called “Best Fans in Baseball” showed their true colors by clashing with Ferguson protestors, hurling everything from “Let’s go Cardinals!” chants to shouts of “crack head.” One of the most offensive chants that several Cardinals fans shouted was, “Let’s go Darren!” As in, Ferguson, Mo., police officer Darren Wilson, the guy who killed unarmed teenager Mike Brown in August. You know, the reason for the Ferguson protests. SMH.

The Cardinals and local police voiced concern prior to the game of clashes between fans and Ferguson protestors, so you have to wonder why there wasn't a greater police presence on hand, here.

As you can see in the video above, Cards fans didn’t appear to be provoked by the Ferguson protesters, but that didn’t stop them from yelling extremely racist and hurtful slurs. Will MLB take action? The state of Missouri? Looks like we’ll have to wait and see.

This award winner is a glimpse at the shocking insensitivity on display last night.
