At the moment, the Spurs are over in Germany. They've taken a trip there to bond as a team, to play an exhibition game against Alba Berlin, and to see some sights. And unfortunately, it's causing a lot of controversy right now.

1.

One of the places that the Spurs visited today was a Holocaust memorial in Berlin. And during their visit, Danny Green took a selfie and posted it on Instagram along with the caption, "A lot of history here, more than you could imagine…very sad/tragic things happened #holocaust #berlin."

But for whatever reason, he posted the same exact selfie on Facebook as well—with a much different caption. That caption read, "You know I had to do it one time lol #Holocaust." And obviously, the fact that Green added "lol" next to the hashtag "#Holocaust" did not sit well with, well, anyone.

Green has already removed the original photo and caption from Facebook and replaced it with the same photo and his Instagram caption. You can see it here. He has also apologized (sort of) on Twitter for making a mistake:

But that hasn't stopped people from ripping him for taking the selfie in the first place—and for captioning it with an "lol."

This is yet another reminder of why athletes need to think—and then think twice—before they post anything on social media.

UPDATE:

Green has now issued a formal apology. Here's what he posted on Twitter a short time ago:
