Steve Nash's Lakers career hasn't been memorable for anything other than disappointment. That was the risk the Lakers had opted to take when signing a 38-year-old who'd played over 1100 NBA games. Now it has taken another (fairly predictable) turn as Nash is expected to miss all of the upcoming NBA season due to nerve issues in his back.

Earlier in 2014, Nash had said that this season would be the last of his career, meaning that (at this point) the injury begins the former-MVP's forced retirement. Like a lot of great players he didn't go out on top, sticking around long enough to make people with short attention spans forget how great he truly was. Last season, in an injury-limited 15 games, Nash averaged 6.8 ppg and 5.7 apg.

If this is indeed the end, Nash will retire as the NBA's all-time leader in free throw percentage, ninth in three-point percentage, third in assists, and as one of only ten players to win back-to-back MVPs. Unfortunately the future Hall of Famer never won a ring, but the fact that he was refusing to play with anybody but the Lakers this upcoming season meant that that wasn't going to happen anyway, whether he was healthy or not.
