Notre Dame Was Historically Awful Today

What happened to Notre Dame? At one point this season, the Fighting Irish came extremely close to knocking off a Florida State team that was, and still is, undefeated. Notre dame was No. 5 in the country entering that game. Since then, ND has gone 1-3 and is no longer ranked. The bleeding didn't stop today. If anything, the wound was ripped wide open.

University of Southern California QB Cody Kessler broke a few passing records en route to a 49-14 thrashing. No QB has ever thrown five touchdowns in a first half against ND. Kessler did today. No QB has ever thrown six touchdowns against ND. Kessler did today. The Trojans were up so big that they literally didn't throw a single pass in the fourth quarter.

We don't want to discount Kessler by saying these results were purely the result of Notre Dame being terrible. USC has been good this year, but Kessler has had a pretty great season. He's now up to 36 touchdowns on the year and has only thrown four interceptions. Funny enough, the six scores are only his second-best of the season, as he threw seven against Colorado.
