The Worldwide Leader in Sports has formally responded to Daniel Tosh's recent allegations of biting

Reaching out to TMZ Sports, ESPN made their statement regarding Tosh's specific accusations of plagiarism, in which he claimed that the network stole his catchphrase "Are you ready to give it another shot?"

"This was more of an instance of us using a common phrase than it was copying his wording," the network said. "We know that doesn't sound like the strongest explanation yet it’s the truth."

They also assured TMZ that they aren't discouraged by Tosh's complaints either, even going so far as to subtly shade him in their remarks.

"We are looking forward to ‘giving it another shot’ in future installments of 'The Awesome Video Segment,'" they said.

So, there you have it. Basically, unless Tosh can draw up some sort of intellectual property argument about this, then ESPN is going to keep moving forward with their "Awesome" new fixture. Any feelings of guilt the network may have about casually ripping off Tosh are clearly mitigated by the fact that they just don't give a fuck.
