After suffering a severe ankle sprain against the Orlando Magic last night, Minnesota Timberwolves point guard Ricky Rubio will be out of action indefinitely. Jeff Zillget of USA TODAY Sports is reporting that Rubio could be out seven to eight weeks.

This is obviously a huge blow to the Wolves, who are trotting out a team full of talented but extremely young athletes and were counting on Rubio's ball handling and passing wizardry to get them easier shots. He had been thriving in that role so far, as Rubio was just one of four players with 50 or more assists so far this season. Mo Williams, who is seemingly on his 100th team in the past two years, is expected to start in Rubio's absence. It could be another long basketball winter up North, though at least Anthony Bennett is finally starting to resemble something that looks like an actual basketball player.
