15 years ago, while coaching the New Orleans Saints, Head Coach Mike Ditka made the decision to trade all his draft picks to move up the board and select reigning Heisman winner Ricky Williams out of Texas. The trade was met with much criticism and led to an unofficial marriage that may (or may not) have been consummated. It also gave the two a unique bond throughout the rest of their careers.

So when Ditka for some reason gave his thoughts on the St. Louis Rams and their "hands up" protest of the Ferguson/Mike Brown ruling (which you can read all about here) Williams had a counter for his former coach.

While saying that he doesn't think Ditka is a racist, Williams added that as a white guy he had no frame of reference for how African Americans feel about police:

"He's a white guy. White people don't relate to police brutality. "

Williams also related his own tale from his days as an undergrad on UT-Austin's campus saying:

"I was arrested for failing to provide identification when I was at Texas, I told them my name was 'Ricky' when my lD said 'Errick.' This when I was the best player in college football."

He also wrapped up his comments to TMZ Sports by giving an additional thought on the nation's racial divide:

"Put a video camera on most white people all day long, you're going to hear something that black people would consider to be racist. Whether they mean it or not."
