Down 30-26 with seconds left at your own 49 doesn't seem to be a recipe for success. But that was the situation tonight as Central Florida (9-3, 7-1) faced off against East Carolina (8-4. 5-3) in their regular season finale. Adding to the drama was the fact that UCF needed a 'W' to claim a piece of the American Athletic Conference title (along with Memphis). With nothing to lose, quarterback Justin Holman cut a Hail Mary loose and connected with wide receiver Breshad Perriman who got behind two defenders (committing the Cardinal sin of last second defense).

If you are a fan of Central Florida, or last second gasps, or people pulling stuff out of their asses it was a thing of beauty:

If you're an ECU alum it was a pretty fitting way to end a regular season that started off fairly well (if nothing else):

Update:

Just to put things more in context for those of you who were watching the Cowboys/Bears (which was probably everyone) here is a 4th and 19 sack that setup the Hail Mary (instead of a punt or throwaway which would've resulted in worse field position).

And, perhaps more entertaining or infuriating depending upon your allegiance, a still photo of an East Carolina defensive back unbuckling his chin strap as the ball was in the air (which is also visible in the top picture).

1.

Remember, always play through the whistle.
