Nobody saw this coming.

After the departure of longtime head coach Mike Riley, the Oregon State football program was in need of a new leader to take the reins for their team. Today, in a stunning move, the university hired away Wisconsin Badgers head coach Gary Andersen. The news was recently confirmed in a statement from the Wisconsin athletic department.

Andersen was 19-7 in his two seasons with the Badgers, ending his tenure with an embarrassing 59-0 defeat against the Ohio State Buckeyes in the Big Ten championship game.

However, despite the loss, the reasons for Andersen's sudden move are unclear at the moment. The Wisconsin head coaching position is clearly regarded with higher prestige than the Oregon State job, making Andersen's decision nothing less than inexplicable.
