The SIAC basketball tournament isn't something that most people typically pay attention to this time of year. With all due respect to the Division II conference, there are much bigger college basketball tournaments that take place in March. But today, the tournament is making headlines and, unfortunately, it's not for the right reasons.

On Tuesday night, Tuskegee knocked off Albany State 80-63 in the first round of the tournament. And while that in and of itself wouldn't normally be all that newsworthy, the two teams are in the news because their cheerleaders got into a fight during halftime of the game. Someone captured a short video of the brawl and, as you can see, things got pretty wild inside of the Bill Harris Arena in Birmingham, Ala.:

Both schools have already launched investigations into the fight. But regardless of who started it or what happened prior to it taking place, the SIAC has announced that the cheerleading teams "will not be permitted to participate in our tournament for the remainder of the week."

We thought we'd seen just about every kind of fight take place at a sporting event (see here, here, and here). But this is definitely new. What could have caused all this commotion?
