Welcome to the first Hurling-related post in Complex Sports history! For those of you who don't know what hurling is, no matter—just think of it as the incestuous lovechild between lacrosse and baseball. It looks crazy, and as Irish hurler Pádraic Maher glowingly demonstrates in the above video, hurling can get crazy bloody too.

The Tipperary fullback suffered the gash against Clare yesterday, but we don't know how. Maher hasn't said anything about it (he's probably still salty that the referee made him come off the field after a Clare goal), and television cameras didn't capture any footage of the incident that lead to the bloodbath.

Maher's Tipperary teammates had a good laugh about the cut after the match, which they won. “I was sitting beside him on the bus on the way home and he had a nice mark on the head! He went off the first time with his hand bleeding and he was busting blood then. Paudie got a nice cut, however he got it!" said Tipperary goalkeeper Darren Gleeson.

Credit to Maher for his tough "just rub some fucking dirt on it" approach to open wounds. Expect more hurling content from Complex Sports in the near future (as soon as we figure out what's happening here):
