It's the most wonderful time of the year for college basketball fans. Both the men's and women's Final Fours are set to get underway soon. So at the moment, we should all be talking about how great college hoops is. But at least one women's college basketball coach doesn't have many nice things to say about the product that the men are putting out on the floor these days.

Earlier today, Connecticut head coach Geno Auriemma referred to men's college basketball as a "joke" during a conference call with national reporters. And he didn't stop there. He also ripped the men's game for being offensively challenged—and said that it's "behind the times" right now.

"It really is," he said. "I don't coach it. I don't play it, so I don't understand the ins and outs of it. But as a spectator watching it, it's a joke. There's only like 10 teams, you know, out of 25, that actually play the kind of game of basketball that you'd like to watch…The bottom line is, nobody can score. And they'll tell you that it's because of great defense, great scouting, a lot of teamwork. Nonsense, nonsense. College men's basketball is so far behind the times, it's unbelievable."

Auriemma does have a point. Some games on the men's side were simply unwatchable this year because of the lack of offense. But at the same time, Auriemma didn't really pick a great time to rip into men's college basketball, did he? He couldn't have saved his criticisms for after the season?
