According to some reports floating around out there, Timberwolves star Andrew Wiggins is going to be named the NBA Rookie of the Year this season. And he's very deserving of the award. Minnesota wasn't good—at all—this year. But Wiggins put up impressive numbers by averaging 16.9 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 2.1 assists, while playing more than 36 minutes per game.

The news about Wiggins has reminded some people that 2015 is the 30-year anniversary of Michael Jordan winning the NBA Rookie of the Year award in 1985. That year, MJ beat out Hakeem Olajuwon (or technically, Akeem Olajuwon) for the award by averaging 28.2 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 5.9 assists. And he also gave a pretty decent, albeit pretty short, acceptance speech that included him joking about—what else?—retiring!

Maybe you've seen MJ's speech, maybe you haven't. But either way, with the news about this season's Rookie of the Year award circulating, we figured today is as good a day as any—it is Throwback Thursday, right?!—to post it. Check out the speech in the clip above.
