Were you surprised when Seth Rollins won the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania 31 on Sunday? A lot of people were. And that includes Rollins himself, who didn't actually find out that he was going to win the title until well after WrestleMania had already started.

According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the WWE's original plan was to have Roman Reigns retain the belt at WrestleMania during his match with Brock Lesnar. However, that plan changed sometime in the week leading up to WrestleMania, and the new plan called for Rollins to win the belt. However, he wasn't actually told about the change until late in the show on Sunday, meaning he had very little time to dwell on how his career path was about to change. The Wrestling Observer Newsletter is reporting that Rollins attended a meeting with Lesnar, Paul Heyman, and Reigns during the WrestleMania 31 segment featuring The Rock and Ronda Rousey and that that was when Rollins ultimately learned that he would be winning the belt.

Assuming this is all true, it would explain why Rollins was so appreciative of Reigns giving up his belt on Sunday. But it would also explain why Reigns' father Sika is reportedly so upset with the WWE right now and "looking to start a war" with the company. It's interesting to hear how this all reportedly played out behind the scenes.
