When you play/watch/read about soccer you realize that scoring chances are about as frequent as thunderstorms in the desert. Translation: you got to cash them in when you get them. Given the perfect opportunity to take a 1-0 lead in tonight's semifinal Germany's Celia Sasic pulled a Scott Norwood and missed a penalty kick for the first time in the country's World Cup history:

Later on the U.S.'s Carli Lloyd showed how you cash in those gimmes and gave the U.S. an insurmountable 1-0 advantage:

Not content with the narrowest of victories, the U.S. tacked on another goal roughly 15 minutes later to all but seal the deal. This one came courtesy of Kelly O'Hara (after a perfect pass from the aforementioned Lloyd):

With tonight's victory over Germany, the U.S. will play the winner of tomorrow night's Japan/England matchup. A win for Japan would allow America to avenge their title loss in 2011.

The Final will be taking place Sunday, July 5th if you want to catch it instead of just reading about the scoring plays.
