NFL Running backs have had a history of being hot one season and cooling off the next. Chris Johnson is a noted example. He went from having one of the greatest running seasons in NFL history (2009), to consistently underperforming, to becoming a free agent after the Jets declined a second-year option.
So, at 29, Johnson is out of work and looking for one last shot at relevancy. He's shooting that shot by trying out for the Cardinals. He'll be in Arizona for a physical and workout this Sunday.

Johnson made headlines in March for getting shot in the shoulder in Orlando. A question going into Sunday is if his shoulder is too affected for what could be his last shot at hitting the field.
