Manny Pacquiao Says God and Salt Water Healed His Torn Rotator Cuff

Kobe Bryant should have tried this.

When Manny Pacquiao fought Floyd Mayweather in May, he did so with a pretty severe shoulder injury. In fact, it was reportedly so bad that his promoter Bob Arum revealed he was going to need to have surgery on his torn rotator cuff to fix it. It was the same kind of injury Kobe Bryant suffered last season, and it was expected to keep him out of the ring for upwards of a year.

However, Pacquiao claims that he is now 100 percent healthy, despite never going through with surgery on his shoulder. He says he never even saw a doctor for the injury. Instead, he relied on God and salt water to do the trick.

"No problem," he told the Philippine Star recently during a 2019 FIBA World Cup bidding event in Tokyo. "I'm fine. It's God's work. I never saw a doctor. I never did rehab. All I did was swim in the sea as often as I could. The salt water healed my wound."

Pacquio's business partner Eric Pineda confirmed Pacquiao's recovery and also credited God and—you guessed it—salt water for healing him.

"God did it," he said. "And all that swimming in the sea helped. Now, there's talk of his comeback fight."

Ah, yes. His comeback fight. Although, can you really call it a comeback fight at this point? He healed (or is it "healed"?) so quickly that he's not really even making a comeback. Whatever the case, Pacquiao should send a gallon of his salt water to Kobe. Clearly, it's got some kind of magical powers.
