Pope Francis will evidently be visiting the Philadelphia area very soon, and Eagles fans want to make sure they add something of vast importance to his already jam-packed agenda.

Sam Bradford will be the starting quaterback for the Eagles this season, but he's suffered a torn ACL injury in each of the last two years. And fans in Philadelphia are asking for some divine intervention in order to make sure he gets through the 2015 season unscathed.

A petition is up on Change.org that is requesting signatures to get Pope Francis to bless Bradford's knees. Here's the pitch:

The Pope is coming to Philly! Our city! With this Eagles season coming up, a lot of our Super Bowl hopes rely on Sam Bradford's knees staying healthy. So, with one of the most religious representatives in the world visiting our wonderful place we call home, how about we get him to bless Bradford's knees during his visit to Philly! This town deserves a Super Bowl, and a healthy Bradford is the only way we will have a parade down Broad Street! Please sign this petition and Go Eagles and Welcome to Philly, Pope Francis!!!!

Four exclamation points, indeed.

The petition has 1,565 signatures as of the time we're publishing this, out of a total of 2,500 that are being requested. It's unclear if this is a legally-binding document that would require the Pope to do something so silly if enough people sign, but if you're a long-suffering Eagles fan who hasn't seen your team win a championship since 1960, anything is worth a shot.

[UPDATE] For what it's worth, Bradford himself says he's in:

Sam Bradford on petition to be visited by the Pope: "I think that would be pretty cool. If he wanted to bless my knees, I'm all for it."
