[UPDATE] - The pilot who lost his life was NOT the one hired by Eagles fans to fly a banner over Cowboys practice. According to the Los Angeles Times, the pilot who died yesterday was seen trying to hook a Bud Light banner to the plane, not anything affiliated with the NFL. Philadelphia local 6ABC confirms the pilot hired by Eagles fans is "fine." Original reporting remains below.

The recent war involving flying airplane banners over NFL training camps has taken a horrific turn.

According to a tweet by @GoEaglesNation, a pilot was killed after a plane carrying a Philadelphia Eagles-related banner that was set to fly over Dallas Cowboys camp went down after takeoff. NBC Los Angeles reports that the pilot took off from Compton-Woodley Airport, about two miles southwest of Compton's central business district.

The name of the pilot has yet to be released and another person who was not in the plane is said to have suffered injuries.

This tragedy comes directly on the heels of a banner plane flying the pro-Cowboys message "WE STILL DEM BOYZ! #SACKSCOMIN!" went over Philadelphia Eagles practice earlier today. That plane was funded by controversial Cowboys' defense end Greg Hardy and apparently flew over during the National Anthem.

Such an unfortunate event may force the NFL to consider controlling the practice of these planes flying over their events.
