Former NFL Player Willie McGinest Says IK Enemkpali Deserved a Contract Extension for Punching Geno Smith

That's certainly one way to look at it.

Yesterday afternoon, a short time after he punched Geno Smith in the face and broke his jaw, the Jets decided to part ways with IK Enemkpali. Even though it sounds like Smith may have played a role in provoking the attack, the Jets weren't having any of it and cut ties with Enemkpali right away. Former Patriots linebacker Willie McGinest thinks they made a big mistake by doing it.

According to McGinest, he wouldn't have released Enemkpali. Instead, he would have—get this—signed him to a contract extension. He likes the passion that he displayed when he attacked Smith.

"I would have called him upstairs to give him a contract extension," he said. "I want guys like that on my team to go to war with."

Well, that's certainly one way to look at it. How long do you think it'll be before McGinest's former coach Bill Belichick sees it that way, too, and offers Enemkpali a deal with the Patriots?
