FIFA has confirmed the dates for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, and there have been some significant changes from the way the tournament has gone down in the past.

Normally the World Cup takes place during the summer, but since temperatures in Qatar can reach an average of 110 degrees, it needed to be moved for the safety of the athletes. It's now scheduled to begin November 21 and last through December 18, which could be problematic for FIFA because that's right in the middle of the schedules of Europe's biggest leagues, and those clubs could end up taking FIFA to court over the potential loss of revenue due to having to cancel games.

There's a lot going on with this, and since we're more than seven years out, plenty could change well before the event actually happens. FIFA president Sepp Blatter could have provided some answers on Friday, but the news conference that was scheduled ended up being canceled.
