When two Texas high school football players attacked a referee during a game recently, they were evidently directed to make the hit by one of their coaches.

We now have another instance of this occurring, but this time, it appears as though the player made the decision himself.

This went down at Glencliff High School in Tennessee last Friday, and as part of a report in the Gallatin News, the referee says he had a conversation about being in the player's way just prior to the incident.

"I had spoken to the player on the play before and he told me that I was in his way," Kyle Gill said. "I asked him how long he'd been playing football and he had to realize that the referees are part of the field. I told him that he should have to avoid me and not the other way around. On the very next play, you saw what happened."

The player, Malcom Easley, has been suspended indefinitely for his actions. He also happens to be the head coach's son.
