Libel, according to Merriam-Webster, is "the act of publishing a false statement that causes people to have a bad opinion of someone." And, according to the legal representatives of former NBA All-Star Gilbert Arenas, claiming the father of your child gave you STDs in an email that leaks to media gossip sites falls under that definition.
According to documents obtained by TMZ, Arenas is suing his ex-girlfriend Laura Govan for releasing an email in which she wrote (among other things):
"When I left you it was because I couldn't take the STDs."
Gilbert Arenas says these accusations are false and wants to force Govan to pay unspecified damages for making the claim.
