Lance Stephenson's tenure in Charlotte did not go exactly how it was envisioned when the two sides came together to agree to a three-year deal last summer. He missed several games due to a pelvic sprain, and when he was healthy he still wasn't very productive. His signing was reportedly not a unanimous decision within the Hornets' front office, as some worried about his fit on the floor and in the locker room. Hindsight has proven that they should've sought a(ny) different player, as he shot 37.6 percent from the field, including an absurdly low 17.1 percent from beyond the arc. Take all those factors into account and that's why he's on the Clippers now.
While the front office was undoubtedly disappointed with Stephenson's lone season on the team, the feeling was clearly mutual. In fact, Lance appears annoyed that he wasn't given the star treatment many somehe believed he deserved, telling Clippers beat writer Dan Woike that he didn't fit with Charlotte's style, saying “I think the way they wanted me to be a star isn’t the way my game is." On top of that, he added:
Now he heads to an organization with spots on the court reserved for DeAndre Jordan, Blake Griffin, Chris Paul, etc. So, you know, if being a star was his goal in Charlotte, then being dealt to the West Coast isn't likely to make that a reality.
