ACC Suspends Officials For "Series of Errors" on Crazy Final Play of Miami-Duke Game

Miami won on eight laterals, though it probably should've stopped at three.

Yesterday, Miami bested Duke on a bonkers final play that gave the Hurricanes a game-winning touchdown on an eight-lateral kickoff return. There were a number of criticisms of the play including:

- A block in the back that was overturned after the officials looked at the replay (which isn't supposed to happen).
- Missing a second block in the back.
- A Miami player committing what could've been an unfathomably stupid penalty by running on the field to celebrate before the play was over.
- And, perhaps worst of all, what appears to be a Miami player's  knee touching the ground on the fourth lateral.

The ACC acted quickly and, today, suspended those involved for their all-around crappy job:

ACC says official erred in not overturning ruling that Miami player had released ball prior to knee being down, which would have ended game.
