UPDATE 1/24/2016 10:29PM AJ Styles was eliminated by Kevin Owens after spending 28 minutes in the Royal Rumble bout.

#ThePhenomenal @AJStylesOrg has been eliminated, but he's being applauded by the @WWEUniverse! #RoyalRumble pic.twitter.com/rYwxgWs5fu

He left to LOUD "A-J Styles!" chants, so hopefully it's nothing but up from here for Styles.

See original story below.

Earlier this month, news leaked that AJ Styles and a number of stars from New Japan Pro Wrestling were jumping ship to join the WWE. Word was that the WWE didn't want this news to be leaked, with reports saying there were some surprises for the Rumble, and tonight, we found out what their surprise was.

AJ Styles, the man who ran through TNA, New Japan, and any other federation he's touched, finally hit the WWE, entering in at #3 during the Royal Rumble.

Entrant No. 3 in the #RoyalRumble Match is simply #PHENOMENAL! @AJStylesOrg has arrived in @WWE! https://t.co/fjpnn7f6kd

It'll be interesting to see how this goes. Styles has a decorated career, winning heavyweight gold practically everywhere BUT the WWE, and didn't have to go to NXT to make his debut, so it looks like they're taking his talents seriously. ANYTHING can happen, especially during WrestleMania season, but it's great to see him in the federation...even if he's spent most of this match on his back.
