Another gambling-related sports scandal?

Did Rangers pitcher Yu Darvish play a role in an illegal gambling ring that his brother Sho Darvish allegedly put together earlier this year?

That’s the question that MLB is trying to answer right now. According to The Japan Times, Sho Darvish was arrested back in October and charged with accepting bets on a handful of American and Japanese sporting events in May 2015, including 16 MLB games. It’s unclear if any of those contests were Rangers games, but Sho Darvish and seven others were accused of accepting about $150,000 worth of wagers on them.

Yu Darvish missed the entire 2015 MLB season after having Tommy John surgery, but he was obviously still a part of the Texas organization and could have theoretically provided information to his brother regarding the Rangers and other MLB teams. MLB told The Japan Times that they are currently looking into his possible connection to the gambling ring.
