The 2015-16 NBA season isn’t over yet, but the Pistons already have two games that will be played next season circled on their calendars. They’re really looking forward to getting back on to the court with the Thunder...and it's all because of something that Kevin Durant just said about them.

Earlier this week, Pistons guard Reggie Jackson—who played for the Thunder from 2011 through 2015—made Russell Westbrook mad when he celebrated a little bit too hard at the end of a Detroit win against Oklahoma City. Durant, who didn’t play during the game, also chimed in on Jackson’s celebration and said that he believes the Thunder would have “beat the hell out of” the Pistons if he had played.

“I wanted to play against Detroit for sure,” he said, “but…you know. It’s Detroit. You know, who cares about Detroit?”

As you can imagine, that comment didn’t sit well with Pistons players, and earlier today, Pistons rookie Stanley Johnson fired back at KD. He put the Thunder on alert and said that Detroit is going to be ready when the two teams square off again next season:

Jackson was asked to respond to KD, too, and he added some more fuel to the fire.

“I don’t think anybody likes us,” he said. “It’s still Detroit versus everybody. That’s still how our mentality is.”

If nothing else, this should be encouraging for all the Pistons fans out there. It’s been awhile since there was this much life in a Detroit team this late in an NBA season.
