The Villanova Wildcats traveled to the White House today to be honored by the commander-in-chief. The visit came after what is now largely argued as one of the best—if not the best—clutch shots for both teams in NCAA championship game history. The storyline as to how it happened, and how the finals seconds could be a documentary unto itself.

He made a short joke at Wildcat senior center Daniel Ochefu taking a mop away from an NRG Stadium employee to clean the sweat off the floor before that amazing shot, representing his team's color as a true blue collar guy. Obama also talked about how his daughter Malia came from the same high school as the team's leading scorer, Josh Hart, and how Joe Biden actually picked 'Nova to win it all.

Obama acknowledged their hard work in the classroom, ranking within the top 10 percent nationally, and their work off the court in the local Philadelphia community. That included a tongue-in-cheek joke about how the team's heroic senior point guard Ryan Arcidiacono and Ochefu hid in a Wildcats-obsessed 4-year-old cancer patient's basement playhouse to surprise him. Obama jokingly stated that kind of surprise for a tot "seems a little scary, but their hearts were in the right place."

Head coach and dapper don Jay Wright gave Obama a team jersey boasting the No. 44, like every other American championship sports champion hands for a formal trip to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.
