Ever since Hulk Hogan was caught making a series of racist statements on his now-infamous sex tape last summer, the WWE has cut off all ties with him. His name isn’t mentioned on WWE broadcasts. He doesn’t have a presence on WWE.com. And while we’d guess that WWE will welcome him back in some capacity at some point in the future, he’s been cut off by Vince McMahon & Co. for the time being.
But that didn’t stop WWE star John Cena from breaking out his best Hulk Hogan impression during an appearance on Maya & Marty on Tuesday night. As part of a hilarious skit about Hogan’s sex tape lawsuit against Gawker, Cena was asked to "audition" for the part of Hogan in a made-up FX series, Hulk Hogan vs. Gawker, and he absolutely nailed his impression of Hogan. He pulled out his Hulk Hogan voice and even managed to work the word "Hulkgasm" into the skit. Here’s just a taste of what he delivered on the show:
Martin Short broke out a Hulk Hogan impression, too, and it was…not good. But he did do one hell of a David Schwimmer-doing-Robert-Kardashian impression if you’re interested in that.
You can check out the entire skit at the top. We don’t imagine WWE was thrilled to see Cena channeling his inner Hulk, but it made for good TV and proved, once again, that Cena has a future in the acting world.
