325-Pound Vince Wilfork Tells Strangers He’s a Gynecologist When They Ask If He Plays in the NFL

Vince Wilfork, a 325-point nose tackle for the Texans, tells people he’s a gynecologist when they ask him if he’s an NFL player.

Next Wednesday, ESPN The Magazine will release its eighth annual Body Issue, featuring everyone from Conor McGregor and Antonio Brown to Elena Delle Donne and Dwyane Wade (you can check out some of the D-Wade photos and read about his biggest insecurity here). It will also feature Vince Wilfork, who agreed to strip down for the ESPN The Magazine cameras and showcase his 325-pound frame to show that "people that are big-boned"  have confidence, too. Here's a sneak peek at one of the photos of Wilfork that will appear on one of the Body Issue covers:

In addition to getting photographed by ESPN The Magazine, the Texans nose tackle also sat down for an interview and showed off his larger-than-life personality. If you watched HBO's Hard Knocks last summer, you already know what Wilfork brings to the table, but he shed light on some interesting new nuggets about himself during his interview.

While sitting with his wife Bianca, the 12-year NFL veteran revealed what it's like to be a guy his size, talked about the parts of his body that he likes best, and also wondered aloud why more companies don't ask offensive and defensive linemen to be paid spokesmen. But the most interesting part of the conversation came when he was asked what it's like when people see him out on the streets. He said that, more often than not, strangers stop and stare at him, which drives him crazy.

"People who don't know me, when they see me they kind of step back and just stare at me and say, 'Dang, he's a big dude,'" he said. "True fans and guys who follow the sport, they know who I am. But sometimes I do get those people that look at me and kind of stop and just stare at me, which I hate."

His wife added that, on occasion, people will even approach him and ask if he plays in the NFL. Wilfork has a pretty funny way of dealing with those people.

"They'll say, 'Do you play ball?'" Bianca said, "and he'll tell them no, he's a gynecologist."

"Yes, that's what I do," Wilfork confirmed.

Not a bad strategy! Elsewhere in the interview, Wilfork also discussed running routes as a wide receiver against Randy Moss in high school, how he used to be able to dunk a basketball, and more. You can check out the full interview here.
