The Browns have confirmed that they have invited Chad Johnson to attend training camp in Berea, Ohio in late July, just one day after Johnson asked Cleveland head coach Hue Jackson to consider adding him to the team's coaching staff on Twitter. Jackson coached Johnson from 2004 through 2006 when he served as the wide receivers coach for the Bengals.

"Chad Johnson and Hue Jackson have a solid relationship from when Hue coached him in Cincy," a Browns' spokesperson told Complex on Tuesday. "Coach Jackson invited him to training camp to spend some time with our receivers."

Johnson started lobbying for a coaching position on Monday when he sent out this tweet:

Gonna ask Hue if I can join the Browns coaching staff as a "route running specialist" assistant receiver coach, what's the worse he can say.

He followed his very informal job application up with this tweet about how "bored" he has been since 2012 when he last played in the NFL with the Dolphins:

I haven't found a job yet & it's been 5 years, I'm bored during the day during what most consider working hours, I should take up knitting.

In order to boost his chances of actually landing a job with the Browns, Johnson called on Cleveland's first-round draft pick, wide receiver Corey Coleman, for help:

You carry more weight than me at this point so I will use this tweet as part of my resume to Hue via text. https://t.co/388FVp9xhD

He also ran down a list of his qualifications:

I can send my resume (19 hour long DVD) of precise route running & unorthodox releases in man to man. https://t.co/6MZn3r3ovO

I don't know statistics but I can show you how to get open regardless of coverage. https://t.co/yJ3ReUIR9t

Hell yeah, haven't had interview since the NFL combine in 16 years ago. https://t.co/nGbbLT2axw

And while petitioning the Browns for a job, he mentioned that he has a better chance of landing a gig with Cleveland than he does of trying to get back into the good graces of those in Cincinnati:

I wasn't even allowed in the locker room when I came back, I doubt I'm welcome as a coach. https://t.co/0Jj8F0fX0B

Eventually, he got his wish when the Browns called and said he could come spend some time working with their wide receivers this summer:

What a blessing Hue Jackson is, see y'all in Cleveland on the 28th, no cleats this time just knowledge

It's unclear if the Browns actually gave Johnson a "job"—it doesn't sound like a paid position at this time—but it sure beats sitting around knitting.
