It would be good to break the string of lousy Johnny Manziel news and read something "nice" about him for a change.

On Friday, the Washington Postdid a long feature on Manziel that addressed how the 2012 Heisman winner's career got off-track, and how his hometown views him now that he's world (in)famous. Though Manziel declined interview requests for the story, he did release a statement through his spokesperson in regard to what's happened since he publicly declared he'd go "completely sober" on July 1.

In his statement to the Post, he said,

"I’m actually doing well. I have good friends around me supporting what I do and I try to support them in what they want to do. I’m not saying I’m never drinking again, but for now just mostly being healthy. I’ve got a killer gym in my house and I can spend time working out. I’m interested in doing a lot of different things in my life—including football—but, right now, I’m just exploring options and waiting to see what the future holds.”

Those aren't exactly the strongest words. But then again they're better than what we've grown accustomed to over the past few years.

For the record, a friend/personal tattoo artist of Manziel's helped back up that statement by saying he hadn't seen the ex-Brown drink in weeks.

However, according to the Post, a separate anonymous friend doesn't think Manziel has any intention of playing again. Additionally, Manziel reportedly changes the subject if his playing career comes up.

Whether or not Manziel does even want to come back, it's possible that no NFL teams would pick him up at this point, though the Arena League has promoted themselves by offering him a spot.
