The Florida Highway Patrol provided Complex with an arrest report and a press release about Lawrence Taylor's arrest for drunk driving on Friday. According to the press release, Taylor was attempting to merge into traffic on the Florida Turnpike and while doing so, struck the right side of a mtoro home that was moving and the left side of a police car that was on the shoulder, finishing up a traffic stop.

The police report notes that Taylor had "bloodshot watery eyes with an unknown odor of an alcoholic beverage" and was "unsteady on his feet." He failed his field sobriety tests and was placed under arrest at 8:30 p.m. While being driven to jail, he got nauseous and EMS was called.

Taylor took a breathalyzer test nearly five hours after the accident, and blew .082 and .084, which is above Florida's legal limit of .08. When he was asked if he had anything to drink, his reply was, "Apparently too much."

Original story below:

Lawrence Taylor, the NFL Hall of Famer who led the New York Giants to two Super Bowls, was arrested in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida on Friday for drunk driving. According to local station WPTV, at 5:20 p.m. Taylor's Bentley hit a motor home and then sideswiped a police car. L.T. hit the car's mirror, but otherwise caused little damage.

A tow truck was called to the scene, and Taylor was then taken to the Palm Beach County Jail. Complex attempted to reach the Florida Highway Patrol and the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office for more information, but neither one responded immediately.

Taylor has had a reputation for wild behavior dating back to his playing days. In fact, he famously drank 41 beers on the day he was drafted. But his retirement has been marked by run-ins with the law, including two arrests for buying crack and a 2010 incident where he was arrested after he paid $300 to have sex with a 16-year-old girl.

The FHP is claiming that more details about Taylor's arrest will be released on Saturday.
