New Zealand rugby star Aaron Smith is far from the first athlete to get caught cheating on his significant other. But he's currently paying a price that few other athletes have had to pay for being unfaithful.

According to The Sun, Smith—who is a member of New Zealand's All Blacks rugby team—was recently spotted having sex inside of an airport bathroom with a woman who was not his 22-year-old girlfriend Teagan Voykovich. Multiple witnesses spoke with The Sun and confirmed that Smith was definitely doing what everyone thought he was doing with the woman in the bathroom. They also described what they saw when he walked out. "He buttoned up his shirt and sat back down with his teammates and carried on smiling, chatting like nothing happened," one said. "I myself did not have a problem with this," another added. "My wife, however, is protesting that this is disgusting."

The incident became such a huge scandal that, earlier this week, New Zealand's prime minister John Key even commented on it:

"He clearly let himself and those that are close to him down. I think there's no question about that. And he'll have to reflect on that, and I'm sure the New Zealand Rugby Football Union will reflect on that. They do try and prove to young New Zealanders that they're the sort of people to look up to.

Smith eventually admitted that he cheated on Voykovich, and while that in and of itself must have been embarrassing enough, he's now being forced to deal with the consequences. He has been suspended for one match, and he was also forced to issue a tearful public apology about what he did. He referred to his philandering as a "huge mistake" and said he made "a huge error in judgment."

Voykovich has been staying out of the public eye this week, and at this point, Smith probably wishes he could do the same.
