Aaron Rodgers hasn't spoken to his parents or his two brothers, Jordan and Luke, since December 2014, according to a report released by Bleacher Report. This is not an entirely unexplored topic, as Jordan, who appeared on and eventually won the last season of The Bachelorette, discussed his relationship, or lack thereof, with Aaron on one episode of the show. "Me and Aaron don't really have that much of a relationship," he said. "It's just how how he's chosen to live his life." At the time, Aaron refused to talk about his brother when asked by reporters and said, "I've always found that it’s a little inappropriate to talk publicly about some family matters."
Since then, Aaron hasn't really been asked about his brother, but the Bleacher Report story indicates that the relationship between Aaron and Jordan—and further, the relationship between Aaron and his entire family—is still fractured. According to a source who was once close with Rodgers, his family members don't have his cell phone number and thus don't have any way to contact him. Last Christmas, Rodgers' parents reportedly tried to touch base with him by sending Aaron and girlfriend Olivia Munn a gift, but it was returned in February. And Rodgers reportedly even refused to attend his grandfather's funeral due to the familial rift, even though he was once very close to him and called him before every game he played. It sounds like Rodgers basically has no interest in maintaining any sort of relationship with his family, and he has reportedly told them that they are not welcome in Green Bay.
The source who spoke with BR noted that Rodgers' personal life might be affecting his professional life, too. There's obviously no way of knowing if this is true, but the source said Rodgers is having trouble on the field in part because of the situation with his family.
"There's no [other] explanation for him playing any worse," the source said. "People are trying to figure it out. He's a fucking head case. He knows he's doing the wrong thing, and he's so arrogant and prideful that he thinks he can separate his personal life from his professional life, even though all of us know that's impossible. You can't do that. You can do that in little spurts, like when Brett Favre went out and played amazingly when he loses his Dad. But when you're talking about real situations that aren't all of a sudden circumstantial and you fuck over good people, people you're supposed to love, it's a shitty thing to do and you're going to get humbled."
Rodgers declined to talk to BR for the story. But if even part of the BR story is true, it's not hard to see why Rodgers has been struggling this season.
