Kris Humphries is a large man. At 6-foot-9, 236 pounds, it’s no surprise that he throws a lot of weight around on opponents in the post. On Saturday, however, he beat up on an inanimate object: the rim at the Atlanta Hawks’ practice facility.

Yep. The 12-year NBA veteran went full Patrick Chewing and shattered the backboard. He confirmed the news on his Instagram account in a post that states he is still cleaning glass out of his hair.

Hawks guard Malcolm Delaney posted a video of the team chucking basketballs at the backboard just to finish the job of destroying it.

Humphries is averaging 3.5 points and 3.0 rebounds in 10.5 minutes per game this year.

Though the Hawks got clobbered at Utah Friday, 95-68, they are having a good season so far. Behind strong post play from Paul Millsap and Dwight Howard, and electric guard play from Dennis Schroder following the departure of Jeff Teague, Atlanta’s 10-6 record is good for second in the Eastern Conference.

Will anyone actually compete with Cleveland in the Eastern Conference playoffs? Probably not. But if the Hawks square off with them, there is the possibility of Kris Humphries shattering a backboard, and well, that's what playoff basketball is all about.
