Seattle Seahawks safety Earl Thomas isn't used to missing a game. Prior to being forced to sit out last Sunday's contest against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers with a hamstring injury, Thomas never sat out once in his seven-year NFL career. When he played for The University of Texas at Austin, he never sat out once. The last time was at West Orange-Stark High School in Texas. Needless to say, this past weekend was a tough time for Thomas.

With the Seahawks on the road, Thomas told Bob Condotta of the Seattle Times that in order to keep his "competitive spirit going," he took a weekend trip with his wife, daughter, and brother to Portland to attend a couple of Trail Blazers games. When Sunday rolled around, the five-time Pro Bowler decided to check out his team by going to a Buffalo Wild Wings in disguise. With a hoodie and glasses on, Thomas nearly blew his cover watching the 'Hawks lose 14-5 to the Buccaneers. “I was into it,” he said. “You can’t be silent. You can’t hide when you are openly passionate about something like this. People knew who I was but they kind of let me be. But it was definitely hard watching it.”

Thomas says what kept him from completely losing his mind while watching last Sunday's game was knowing that he was going to be coming back the following week. While that may have seemed like optimism on his part, the 27-year-old has been a full participant in practice the last three days and appears well on his way to suiting up on Sunday.
