It may be a new year, but it looks like 2017 will be featuring the same old Cleveland Browns. Winning one game in an entire calendar year could drag on any franchise, but it was even more of a slog than usual for a team with this history. Christmas Eve brought the first win of the year for the Brownies, and it looked like they could possibly build on that success this week against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Then, this morning a team bus broke down on the way to take on their Rust Belt rivals.
Coaches were riding in the lead bus, which had mechanical issues, and were forced to find seating elsewhere in the caravan. Luckily, no one was seriously hurt. Though the rate at which these sorts of things happen to the Browns makes one wonder what they did to inherit such bad luck.
Not a great start to the year, but as always in Cleveland, they are going to try and push through. In the last year they have cut Johnny Manziel, the last quarterback who won a game for them before last week’s victory. In fact, even though the Cavaliers came through like champions in June and the Indians gave a valiant effort in the World Series, the Browns are always there to keep the old perceptions of the city alive.
