People Aren't Buying Roger Goodell's Comments About Tom Brady Winning Another Super Bowl

Roger Goodell says it wouldn't be awkward for him to hand Tom Brady the Lombardi Trophy if he wins Super Bowl LI. You buying that?

On Wednesday afternoon, NFL commissioner Roger Goodell appeared on Colin Cowherd's Fox Sports radio show The Herd where, not surprisingly, he was asked about the very real possibility that he'll have to hand the Lombardi Trophy to Tom Brady—a.k.a. the man he suspended for four games after a super drawn out process where nothing was really proved—following Super Bowl LI. Goodell, likely lying through his teeth, said it'd be an "honor" to give the Patriots' QB his fifth Super Bowl trophy:

Roger Goodell on @TheHerd, said it would be an honor to hand Tom Brady the SB trophy.

Goodell to @theherd on Brady winning: He's an extraordinary player, great performer and surefire hall-of-famer. It would be an honor.

Furthermore, he said it wouldn't be awkward at all for him to stand side-by-side with Brady on the winner's stage:

Roger Goodell was asked if it would be awkward if Brady won: Not for a second.. Tom Brady is one of the all-time greats.

Cowherd also asked Goodell why he opted to go to Atlanta for the NFC Championship Game on Sunday instead of Foxborough for the AFC Championship Game, where he hasn't been since the whole Deflategate debacle started more than two years ago.

"Listen, we had two great games. I was in Boston two years ago for the divisional and championship games," Goodell said. "I try to get to as many stadiums as I can. But you know, we [had] two great games and you have to choose. Frankly, the focus should be on the players, the coaches, and the great game, and that is where it was this weekend and the way it should be."

If you're not buying either of these explanations, you're not alone. Here's a bunch of people who immediately called BS on Goodell's comments about Brady and the Pats:

It's 'more probable than not' Roger Goodell doesn't actually want to hand the Lombardi trophy to Tom Brady. #Patriots #SuperBowl

Roger Goodell's lack of sense of self is mind boggling. Says it would be "an honor" to give the SB trophy to Brady. Clown
