Joel Embiid Swatted a Little Kid's Layup Attempt Away to Teach Him 'How to Trust the Process'

Joel Embiid swatted away the shot of a kid trying to drive past him for an easy layup.

Saw kids playing at the park while we were driving so I had to stop to teach them how to trust the process….. Nobody gets in my paint ha #TheProcess

For a while there we had a nice little trend going where NBA players utterly humiliated kids that were half their size and a quarter of their age. LeBron James did it, Dwight Howard did it, Kevin Durant did it (twice), even Michael Jordan did it (though the link's busted for some reason). Depending on how much of a dick you are, it was pretty much always sweet to watch. For instance, I loved it.

But then, for whatever reason, it just sort of went away. NBA players collectively decided to stop preying on the pre-pubescent (might have been a better way to write that sentence). That is, at least, until Joel Embiid showed some middle-schooler why you shouldn't drive the lane on him until you've surpassed the five-foot mark. Embiid explained himself in a caption on his Instagram, saying that three word team motto that he's said every hour of every day for the last three years:

Hopefully this is a sign of a comeback of NBA players showing America's youth that if they want to tell their friends they scored on a pro player, they have to earn it.

Fingers crossed.
