Dwyane Wade informed the Chicago Bulls on Tuesday night that he will exercise the player option in his current contract and stay with the team next season. Even though Wade could have opted out of his contract to join forces with good friend and former Miami Heat teammate LeBron James in Cleveland, there was something that greatly influenced his decision.Â
Wade will make $23,800,000 next season. But whose fault is that? The Bulls were the ones to put a two-year, $47 million offer on the table for a 34-year-old Wade last summer—and he glady accepted it. So if anything, the Bulls are to blame.
Now, the 12-time All-Star would never throw Chicago's front office under the bus like that. Instead, he took a different approach after some NBA fans out there started complaining about how much money he'll make next season. He went the petty route:
Wade isn't wrong. Take Wade's banana boat mateChris Paul, for example. Last season, Paul averaged 18.1 points per game on 47.6 percent shooting from the field in 31.5 minutes. On May 6, CP3 celebrated his 32nd birthday, and yet, there are still teams who are willing to meet his contract demands this summer, which could net him upwards of $153 million over four years on the open market. D-Wade thinks his response is petty, but there's definitely some truth in his statement.Â
So let Wade get his money while he still can and stopping hating.Â
