The Stanley Cup Finals may still be underway, but the NHL is already busy planning next season's festivities. Along with an assuredly interesting Entry Draft and the introduction of the league's newest team, the Vegas Golden Knights, there will be plenty of special moments during the NHL's 2017-2018 season.

Something you can already mark down on your hockey-viewing calendars, are the string of upcoming outdoor games. Thanks to some trusted media sources fueling the rumour mill, we now have some exciting new information out of NHL brass. Needless to say, with some big-name teams officially involved, diehard fans are already throwing money at computer screens.

After a thoroughly entertaining playoff matchup back in April, the Toronto Maple Leafs and Washington Capitals will battle it out on the ice once again. According to a report from the Associated Press, the game will take place at the massive Naval Academy arena in Annapolis, Maryland. This will mark the third outdoor game for the Leafs, who recently took on the Detroit Red Wings at the beginning of the year for the NHL Centennial Classic.

It was the Buds' young phenom, Auston Matthews, who sealed the fate of the aforementioned game, giving the hometown team a dramatic overtime win. Meanwhile, the Washington Capitals will arrive on the scene with some experience of their own. Despite a lackluster finish to their recent playoff campaign, the Caps are the NHL's regular season champions, and have competed in and won two Winter Classic games of their own.

As of right now, the Leafs and Caps are poised to play their Maryland match on March 3, 2018. Stay locked onto Complex Canada for more details as announcements are made.
