Once the Los Angeles Lakers officially took Lonzo Ball with the second overall pick in the 2017 NBA Draft and De'Aaron Fox landed in the lap of the Sacramento Kings sitting at No. 5, diehard basketball fans immediately thought about the Summer League. Why? Because the Kings and Lakers were scheduled to square off in a contest that would pit rival rookie point guards, Ball and Fox, against one another in the first of what should be many showdowns in the NBA. Then, the Lakers squashed all our hopes and dreams when they decided to rest Lonzo for tonight's game because of a sore groin.

Even Fox couldn't hide his disappointment upon hearing the news in a very telling tweet that has since been deleted.

With Fox averaging 17.5 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists, and 4 steals in his two Summer League contests, and Ball coming off of an impressive triple-double in Saturday's contest against the Celtics, the stage was set for a fun Monday night showdown. Now people are venting on Twitter over what they think is Ball trying to avoid getting embarrassed by Fox for a third time out on the court.

Since both guys play in the Western Conference, these two will face one another at some point this upcoming season, barring any additional excuses injuries.
