Mike Tyson Offers a Bleak Prediction for Mayweather and ‘McConor’ Fight

Mike Tyson believes Conor McGregor is "going to get killed" against Floyd Mayweather.

The last time Floyd Mayweather took part in a major fight, Mike Tyson was not impressed. Shortly after Mayweather’s 2015 fight against Manny Pacquiao ended, Iron Mike took to Twitter to let everyone know just how unimpressed he was with the way the fight went. "We waited 5 years for that..." he wrote, using the hashtag #underwhelmed.

Tyson is also not a big fan of Mayweather in general. After Mayweather called himself a better boxer than Muhammad Ali a couple years ago, Tyson referred to him as "delusional." He also said Mayweather is "a very small, scared man," which may be because Tyson has a beef with Mayweather that goes all the way back to 2001 and potentially involves a police raid at his Las Vegas home.

Regardless of all of this, it doesn’t sound like Tyson is giving Conor McGregor much of a chance to beat Mayweather when the two take part in their superfight on Aug. 26. Tyson appeared on Barstool Sports’ podcast "Pardon My Take" on Monday. In the interview, he said he's expecting McGregor to get thoroughly dismantled during the showdown. He also said he was hoping Mayweather and McGregor were going to agree to take part in what would essentially amount to a no-holds-barred fight, and he was disappointed when he learned it would just be a regular boxing match.

"McGregor is going to get killed boxing," Tyson said. "I got mad because I thought they were going to use MMA rules against boxing because that’s what it's all about: Can the boxer beat the MMA guy? McConor [Ed. note: Yes, Tyson just called McGregor "McConor."] put his dumbass in a position where he's gonna get knocked out because this guy's been doing this all his life since he was a baby. McConor [Ed. note: Yup, again!] can’t kick and grab and stuff so he won't stand much of a chance."

This isn’t the first time Tyson has predicted McGregor will lose to Mayweather. He said the same thing during an interview with Maxim in June, though he said it in much more uncertain terms. In that interview, Tyson also said if Mayweather wants to impress him, he should beat McGregor to move to 50-0 for his career—and then figure out a way to advance all the way to 87-0 like Julio César Chávez did back in the 1980s and '90s.

So yeah, we wouldn't expect Tyson to be impressed regardless of what happens during his fight with McCon—err—McGregor. Even if he "kills" him like most people are predicting, Tyson isn't going to give Mayweather much credit for it.
