Though opera might not be something you're into, you've got to admit that this stage is impressive. The waterproofed set is built directly into Lake Constance in Bergenz, Austria, and holds on by being mounted on a concrete core anchored into the bottom of the lake. Stage designer David Fielding really outdid himself here: the ornaments on stage move in reaction to the plot- and the opera André Chénier has its share of turns, as it retells a story of love and death during the French Revolution.
