A lot has been said about Rocawear in the past couple of months, and most of the press hasn't been great. Apparently, the brand, which was started by Jay-Z and Damon Dash in 1999, laid-off half of its employees and was on the verge of bankruptcy. Let's not forget the controversy behind it's "Occupy All Streets" T-shirts. It's a shame, really, because Rocawear had always been a hip-hop style staple—we know you have a pair of those jeans with the R on the back pockets lying around somewhere.

But if there's one thing Hov doesn't do, it's throw in the towel. He and his team are set to release their first-ever television commercial, which they hope will help save the company. Entitled "From Marcy to Madison Square," the video will tell Jay-Z's true-life career story from selling CDs out of a car trunk in the Marcy Projects to headlining his own shows at the almighty Madison Square Garden. Filmed in November, the commercial is also said to include footage from the Watch the Throne concert at MSG. It seems like Jigga's very much still involved with the brand, despite rumors of his departure back in 2007.

Look out for the Rocawear ad this spring on MTV, BET, and TNT during NBA basketball games and online.
