The three most expensive Leica cameras from a serial production recently fetched over $4.5 million at the latest Westlicht auction. The models included the first serial-production M3 from 1953, which sold for $1,165,590, a gold-plated Luxus from 1929, which sold for $1,320,920, and the legendary M3D owned by LIFE photographer and Picasso's friend, David Douglas Duncan, which sold for a staggering $2,175,410.
